Tucked away in the little sleepy village of Bammental is the Italian restaurant Armonia. We found it while looking for a place for dinner after a day at the neighbouring Waldschwimmbad. Armonia is run by the Montano brothers, who hail from the Italian region of Abruzzo.
The extensive à la carte menu takes guests on a journey through Italy with various appetizers, specialty pizzas, lasagne, pasta, fish and meat dishes. Additionally, there are daily offers which occasionally include specialties from Abruzzo. Armonia serves house wines from Sardinia, Apulia, and Abruzzo amongst others, and they are available by the glass or carafe.
Our kids enjoyed a refreshing green salad with a balsamic vinaigrette with their thin-crust salami pizza. We tucked into some vitello tonnato, fresh pasta with salmon, and rumpsteak with pfifferlinge mushrooms, washed down with Montepulciano red wine from the Abruzzo region. Dessert was one of the most delicious tiramisu we’ve had. Our meal was good value for money. The restaurant manager took our orders – I can see why some folks might mistake his slightly gruff demeanor for unfriendliness, but we find him helpful and the kids like him.
The indoor dining area is very spacious, large enough to accommodate up to 90 guests and various events. However, if the weather permits, request to be seated outdoors. A major section of the outdoor dining area has a thatched roof over it, including ceiling fans, so it’s cool and pleasant on hot days. Trickling water from a fountain adds to the soothing atmosphere.
We look forward to dining at Armonia again soon, this time to try some fresh fish!
