Hola a todos!

It used to be common practice in Spain for people to call into a bar or two just before lunch for a chat de vino tinto (glass of red wine).  The first very simple tapas – snacks or appetizers – arose from the need to avoid drinking on an empty stomach and consisted of slices of bread topped with raw ingredients and combined with cold meat, cheese, tinned fish and mayonnaise or oil.  As the country developed, people began to work longer hours and have less time for leisure pursuits or calling into bars.  Tapas began to replace full lunches and have now become commonplace.

When:  Wednesday, July 4th, starting at 9.30am till about 1.00pm thereabouts

Where:  Yaneth’s home in Lambsheim  (address will be provided to those attending)

What:   We will be making a spread of popular tapas for lunch, including a small portion of seafood paella for those who missed Yaneth’s “Paella” session in February.  And seeing it’s summer, we will be quenching our thirst with some Sangria!

¡buen provecho!
