There are many Thai eateries scattered throughout Mannheim, and Natthanicha is one of them. Since opening in June 2015, it has quickly acquired a reputation for cooking up authentic Thai fare.
The daily lunch menu is value-for-money – for 8 Euro per person, guests can choose one from 10 made-from-scratch curries and stir-fries (7 Euro for vegetarian dishes), including a 0.3L beverage.
We ordered Phad Thai and Gaeng Kiao Wan (Green Curry with Chicken), which were served within 15 minutes. The Phad Thai tasted mediocre, but the curry intrigued our tastebuds – it was unexpectedly garlicky, rather unlike most green curries we had before.
We look forward to returning for dinner, to sample dishes from their à la carte menu. The opening hours are 12.00-14.00, and 17.00-21.30. Even if you’re just going for lunch, be sure to call at least a day in advance to make a reservation because the place is really small – there are only 17 seats available! Alternatively, you could hang around until a table is free (turnover about 60 minutes on average).
