Our first “Cook-and-Dine” session will be a “Eurovision Dinner” as May 12th is also the date of this year’s “Eurovision Song Contest” (ESC), now in its 63rd year!

This international song contest was founded after World War Two, and it is an institution that drew over 180 million viewers in 2017.  The “Euro-” prefix is a bit misleading – contestants can come from any member country of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) which includes numerous non-European nations such as Israel, Morocco, Azerbaijan and even Australia.

So, get your tastebuds ready for a journey across the smörgåsbord of cuisines from ESC-participating countries as we prepare a few iconic dishes for dinner.

When:  Saturday, May 12th, starting at 18.15am till about 22.30pm thereabouts

Where:  Faeimm’s home in Nußloch (address will be provided to those attending)

What:  We will be making 3-4 dishes from the countries with the highest odds of winning ESC 2018 (according to bookmakers’ predictions).  Leading the pack at the moment are entries from Israel, Estonia, Czech Republic, Norway, and Australia.  Note that the odds can still change, so we will finalize the menu two weeks before the show.

There is space for 8 participants, online registration opens mid-April.  Once you have registered, make sure to let me know if you have any special dietary requests so that I may customize the menu closer to time.
