New Orleans is one of America’s food meccas – the vibrant mix of the city’s French, Spanish, African and Caribbean cultures are reflected in its local Creole and Cajun cuisines.
In this “Cook-and-Dine” session, we will be embarking on a pilgrimage to New Orleans!
When: Saturday, January 14th, starting at 18.00 hours till about 22.30 hours thereabouts
Where: Janine and Robert’s home in Schwetzingen (address will be provided to those attending)
What: Creole food combines bold, spicy and tangy flavors with rich sauces, smoky meats and signature ingredients to create a cuisine all its own. One of the dishes we will be making is one that epitomizes the melting pot nature of Louisiana cooking – the seafood Gumbo.
Please note that we need to start promptly at 18:00 hours so that the Gumbo simmers for at least 90 minutes to achieve the height of its flavour. Janine will already prepare the seafood stock in advance, because we cannot have a good seafood gumbo without a good seafood stock!
