Russian cuisine is based off the peasant food of the rural population that had to deal with a harsh, long-lasting winter. Traditional Russian food is meant to fatten people up in preparation for the long winter ahead and has more carbohydrates and fat than proteins.
Our fourth “Cook-and-Dine” session takes a few classic Russian dishes and infuses them with some Brazilian “alegria“.
When: Saturday, November 17th, starting at 18.00am till about 22.30pm thereabouts
Where: Birgit’s home in Bad Dürkheim (address will be provided to those attending)
What: No Russian menu is complete with the signature beet soup “Borschtsch“, and the version we are cooking will be a vegetarian one. Then there’s the beloved “Blini” – thin pancakes said to symbolize the sun, topped with smoked fish, caviar, cream cheese and quark, amongst others. For main course, we will be making “Strogonoff” – the Brazilian version of a traditional Russian dish with beef in a creamy sauce. Our meal ends with the soft-as-cloud and sweet “Plum Sambuk” served with “Espuma de baunilha“.
There is space for 10 participants, online registration opens mid-October. Once you have registered, make sure to let us know if you have any special dietary requests so that we may adjust the menu accordingly.
