Zdravo!
To understand Croatian food you need to understand the history of the region. The many different aspects of its cuisine are influenced predominantly by the former Austro-Hungarian empire, the former Ottoman Empire, and Italy. This is why there are many Croatian dishes which are familiar to us, but with a slight twist in combination of ingredients.
When: Thursday, November 8th, starting at 9.30am till about 1.00pm thereabouts
Where: Laura’s home in Heidelberg (address will be provided to those attending)
What: Our history lesson begins with “Hobotnica na salatu” (octopus salad), which is a popular seafood throughout the Mediterranean region. Black risotto is an example of Italian influence – we will be making “Crni Rižot” (black cuttlefish risotto) for our main course. For dessert, Laura will share with us a custard pudding from the region of Dubrovnik “Dubrovačka Rožata“, which gets its aroma from the liqueur “Rozalin” made with rose petals.
There is space for 8 participants. Online registration opens early October.
