Hello Everyone!

Canada is often touted as a country built by immigrants, who brought their food and culture along with them.  According to a former Canadian prime minister, Joe Clark, “Canada has a cuisine of cuisines.  Not a stew pot, but a smorgasbord!”

When: Thursday, September 29th, starting at 9.30am till about 1.00pm thereabouts

Where: Diana’s home in Plankstadt (address will be provided to those attending)

What:  Diana will introduce us to Pierogie”, also known as “varenyky” or “pyrohy”, filled dumplings of Eastern European origins.  Today, they are firmly integrated into Canadian food culture, having been introduced by Central and Eastern European immigrants before and during World War II.  We will be making vegetarian pierogies, served with sausages (pork-based) on the side for a complete meal.

For dessert, there will be butter tarts.  Canadians love their butter tarts, which can be made using countless variations.  One of the biggest debates in the country is whether the center of a butter tart should be runny or firm!

There are 10 spots available in this session.  Online registration is now open.

Thank you!
